After lessons learned from this weekend’s Ops session, I sat down to finalize my plans for the new Metaline Falls Branch. The goal was to keep as much of the original railroad as possible while updating it to improve operations and allow me to run steam locomotives in a prototypical manner.
The biggest changes coming in the near future is a re-working of the Newport area to include locomotive servicing facilities, as well as adding a facing point switch leading to the utility pole mill.
Metaline Falls sees some significant updates as well, with the addition of a removable wye as well as the removal of the Box Canyon Bridge scene at the far end of the layout. (Something I still haven’t come to grips with quite yet…) Additionally, the cement factory gets another track to add more operational opportunities as I set my sights on turning the cement factory into its own dedicated job that will keep operators busy for an entire session.
