15 Minutes a Day

Here’s proof that grabbing 15 minutes here and there can result in getting some good work done quickly. I knew that getting rid of what was originally supposed to be a dramatic and iconic scene for the branchline was going to be difficult, but it made no sense to keep the Box Canyon scene where it was as Metaline Falls is the end of the line and having a big bridge over a deep canyon scene just made no sense. The best way forward was to just not think too hard about it and rip that band-aid off! I tore out the existing benchwork and re-built the area with a simple stretch of distressed track over flat benchwork and I actually really love that I did it now. This scene will eventually include the Metaline Falls depot and a water tank giving it some actual purpose on the layout where before it just served as a glorified lead track that would have been fun to photograph trains running through on occasion.
